Thiru Kaaragam ( Sri Karunaka Perumal)

Thiru Kaaragam, is one of the 108 divya desam temples situated in Kanchipuram. This temple is within the Thiru Ooragam (Ulgalantha Perumal) temple. The legend behind this divya desam is that Kaar, black clouds. The clouds give the rain to the world. Since, Karunakara Perumal resembles as Kaar the blackclouds, Lord doesnt expect anything from his bhaktas but only pure bhakthi or devotion from them.

   Moolavar is known as Sri karunakaran facing the south.

Thaayar of the temple is Padmamani Nachiyar also known as Ramamani Thayar

The temple is revered by the verses of Tirumangai Alvar

There are 3 other divya desams inside the temple - they are Thirukkarvaanam , Thiru Neeragam , Thiru Ooragam.

Temple Timings The temple is open from 6:00 AM till 12 noon and from 4:00 pm till 8:00 pm

Kanchipuram is around 75 kms from Chennai off the Chennai Bangalore highway via SriPerumbudur. It is well connected by several bus services from Chennai. There is a railway station in Kanchipuram with a few train services from Chennai in the mornings.
