Thiru Neeragan, is one of the 108 divya desam temples situated in Kanchipuram. This temple is within the Thiru Ooragam (Ulgalantha Perumal) temple. The legend behind this divya desam is that Neer, the water is the primary and necessary element and elixir of all the life on the earth.e. To explain this, Sri Narayanan is giving his seva as "Jagadeswar Perumal". The Perumal is also called as "Thiru Neeragathan". It symbolises that aswater rushes towards the place where there is a small opening or hole, likewise, Lord flows into the hearts of the bhaktas and and fill their soul with bhakthi.

   Moolavar is known as Thiru Neeragathan, or Jagadeeshwarar in a standing posture facing the east.

Thaayar of the temple is Nilamangai valli

The temple is revered by the verses of Tirumangai Alvar

There are 3 other divya desams inside the temple - they are Thirukkarvaanam , Thirukaaragam , Thiru Ooragam.

Temple Timings The temple is open from 6:00 AM till 12 noon and from 4:00 pm till 8:00 pm

Kanchipuram is around 75 kms from Chennai off the Chennai Bangalore highway via SriPerumbudur. It is well connected by several bus services from Chennai. There is a railway station in Kanchipuram with a few train services from Chennai in the mornings.
