Vanamamalai also now known as Thiruseerivaramangai is one of the 108 divya desams in Nanguneri,South Tamil Nadu. This is also known as Thothathiri Kshetram.This kshetram is one of the eight Swayambu Kshetrams of Maha Vishnu ( the other seven being are Srirangam, Bhu Varaha Swamy temple (Kalhalli,Mysore), Tirumala , Thiru Salagrama (Nepal), Naimisaranyam, Pushkar and Badrinath), believed to have appeared before Adiseshan and Garudan.

As per legends, Adisesha performed penance at this place and requested him to use him as a bed and Vishnu was pleased by his devotion rested on the serpent. Garudan also performed a penance and was granted the privilege of guarding the Vaikunta.

It is said that once Sage Kusana Maharishi cursed the Sindhu King to become a human with dog face, and he came to the Setru Thamarai pushkarani here and regained his human form.

The temple is built in Dravidian temple Architecture style.The temple has a large five tiered gopuram and two praharams. There are many mandapams in the prharams with breath taking beautiful sculptures depicting various legends from the Puranas,and the Dasavataram.

Goddess Seerivaramangai Thayar has a separate sannidhi.

The Moolavar here is Thothathirinathan. He is found in a veetrindha kolam)sitting posture) facing the east with his consorts Sridevi and Bhoodevi.Prathyaksham for Brahma,Indran,Romasar,Brighu,Markandeyan.

Rituals and beleifs Moolavar is anoinated daily with special thailam. The anoinated oil is stored in a small well called 'ennai kinaru' (oil well). This oil as prasadam is said to cure many incurable diseases if taken with sincere faith.

Temple Timings The temple is open from 6:30 AM till 12:00 noon and from 5:00 pm till 9:30 pm

Nanguneri has a railway station and also well connected by Highways and state highways.It is on the Tirunelveli -Thirukurungudi route,37 kms from Tirunelveli town.The nearest airport is Tuticorin at a distance of about 75 km.
